These dogs are renowned for their tiny size and merry disposition. They are healthy and long-lived, and require little in the way of general care. However, they are extremely delicate and require careful handling. They should not be trusted with small children or larger dogs, because they are very susceptible to fractures. This breed is also characterized by a somewhat willful and obstinate temperament, and hence it is not recommended for inexperienced dog owners.
