The chihuahua hair long puppy is not commonly found in rescues as a puppy.
The dogs of this breed come in two varieties – the smooth coat and the long coat; the gene of smooth coat is dominant, that's why the dogs with smooth coat are more numerous. Breeding these dogs is rather difficult because of the small size. They have a somewhat wayward temperament and can be hard to train for inexperienced dog owners. They enjoy human company and should not be left alone for a long time. If you are not ready to spend most of your time with your dog, this is not the right breed for you.

The litters are small and the delivery is very complicated, so only reputable breeders can successfully raise such dogs. All pet quality dogs should be spayed or neutered to avoid spoiling of the breed. Pet quality dogs are less expensive than show quality dogs.
