Applehead Chihuahua
An applehead chihuahua is a very distinctive puppy and is not usually found in a rescue.
The dogs of this breed have a very distinctive head with large luminous eyes and long erect ears. Some dogs have a soft spot on the top of the head, which is called molera. Ancient Aztecs regarded this as a sign of purity. Today, some vets are not familiar with this peculiar breed and may diagnose the dogs with a molera as hydrocephalic and even recommend euthanasia. The presence or absence of the molera means nothing and should not be judged as a fault.
