| Sugar Glider: | A Sugar Glider, a small marsupial having a pouch for the young, looks like a flying squirrel in some respects but is not related to a flying squirrel. Although its care is similar to that of the flying squirrel, its diet is different. These creatures have a thin stretch of membrane between their front and back legs that allows them to glide as they jump. They inhabit eucalyptus trees in Australia and in forests on surrounding islands and Indochina. These 5-inch long marsupials live 4 years in the wild and 15 in captivity; they make good social pets, but require special handling. |
