Be careful for cars, as it has a strong affinity for the chase, owing to its descent from hunting dogs.

Also called King Charles Spaniel.
Its name is derived from King Charles II who loved toy spaniels so much that they were in his presence almost all the time, supposedly preferring them to his courtiers. They were also favorites to Mary Queen of Scots, Elizabeth I, , Charles I, and his son, James II. They reached their peak of popularity during the reign of Charles II, at which time they could be seen on many country estates, due to the pleasant comfort they afforded, as well as their hunting abilities.
