Shorthaired Cats
Shorthaired cats are greatly varied, as often seen in pictures shown by breeders.
Adaptations to the environment and evolution may account for the great variety of small fur breeds of cat. Small furs are believed to be descendants of the African Caffre feline that was domesticated by the early Egyptians. The coats of small fur cats are easier to maintain, some may require grooming.

In warmer climates the cats evolved in ways that would allow their bodies to stay cool: they became thinner, longer, with coats less dense. Many small furs felines have one sleek and smooth coat (Siamese and Burmese), however some breeds can have an undercoat (Abyssinian, Chartreux, and Manx).
