This ape is native to South America, where it lives in hierarchical groups. Staying mostly in the trees, they usually eat plant parts, nectar, nuts, nectar and seeds. They are known to play together and chatter by means of sounds and gestures. These apes require special care in captivity. Left alone, they tend to become neurotic.
