It tests the dog's ability to protect its family and show its strength and good temperament. To take part in Irondog, a dog should have a protection sport title. The dogs may also be trained to perform in Triathlon/Pentathlon. Owners can choose between such events as Weight Pulling, Sprint Race, Tug of War, Hangtime, Hardest Hitting, and Endurance Test. The dogs that have titles are considered best for breeding.
