The dog should first pass the Guard Dog Temperament Test (GDT) that consists of two stages. The first stage will test the dog's temperament and ability to obey the commands of the handler. If the dog is loyal to strangers and reacts adequately to various stimuli, it is likely to pass the test. The second stage evaluates protective abilities of the dogs.
