Bulldog Breeds
There are several bulldog breeds, but it is difficult to determine the type of the breed by the puppy picture.
To minimize the risk of hereditary disorders it’s recommended to buy a pup or an adult dog from a reputable breeder. These dogs suffer much from their exaggerated appearance created by man. Their short windpipes cause breathing problems, especially in hot weather. Extreme temperatures are dangerous for these dogs; they should only be kept indoors. Broad heads of the puppies make it almost impossible to deliver in a natural way. Most females deliver by cesarean section and make poor mothers. Hip dysplasia, poor eyesight and skin infections occur in some bloodlines.

These dogs are very convivial, jovial and affectionate, and their intimidating appearance belies their true character. They are not intended for rigorous exercise, and they are intolerant of heat and humidity. These pets do well in apartment, and there must be enough toys for them. These animals have wrinkled muzzles, strong mandibles and powerful legs. Their front legs are set wider than hind legs, and this provides for rock-solid standing, which used to be crucial for victory in a bull baiting contest.
