The breed is registered by the UKC as an APBT and is an individual breed of dog and does not refer to just any ill-bred, mindless warrior-type mongrel. The dogs are not aggressive though some owners raise them to be aggressive deliberately and if the dog is correctly socialized and trained it is not aggressive at all.
