The exact time of the breed's origin is not known, but its ancestors are the breeds of mastiff type: the Bullenbeiszer and the Barenbeiszer. Up to the beginning of the 20th century breeding of these creatures was indiscriminate, but in 1904 the studbook and breed standard appeared. Early representatives of the breed were very ferocious, as their aim was bull baiting, big game hunting, and guarding the property. Today, this bred is very loving and gentle companions. These animals are intelligent and devoted to the owner. Learn boxer dog history, about care for the dogs, and view a picture at kennels.

This breed came from Germany. It’s a cousin to many canines developed from the Molossian Hound. In spite of their ferocious look, these animals are very loving and tender family companions, which can be trusted with small children. These creatures show aggression only in emergency and will never hurt a child. Pets of this breed are very easy to keep indoors. They are very clean canines with a short coat that requires only occasional brushing. Being very smart, these dogs are easy to train and quick to learn. These versatile animals excel in obedience, agility, and therapy work. Learn boxer dog history, about care for the dogs, and view a picture at kennels.
