The Epicrates cenchria cenchria is the most commonly kept and bred of the Epicrates cenchria subspecies. The other subspecies include the Colombian subspecies, Epicrates cenchria maurus, and the Argentinian subspecies, Epicrates cenchria alvarezi.

This is a soft-skinned reptile with great iridescence in its skin. They are brown or reddish brown snakes. These are round-bodied terrestrial creatures of medium build.
