The bloodhound is not usually found in a rescue, but can be optained through breeder kennels.
Another name for these dogs is Chien de St. Hubert, it originated in ancient France and was designed specially for tracking game. Today such dogs are used for poachers and thieves search and the results of their work are acceptable in any court.

The expression of these dogs is dignified and noble, often associated with wisdom and power. Such huge creatures have very sensitive and affectionate temperament, but should not be left alone without supervision because of their hound heritage. The dogs vary in size from 23 to 27 inches.
