To adopt a dog of this breed you and your house should meet certain requirements: a fenced yard with a shelter is a must, there should be no small children in the family, and you should be experienced dog owner, because this breed is not for the novice.

Dogs accepted from individuals meet criteria for adoption: they have no serious problems, which cause much vet expenses, and are not aggressive. Dogs with a bite history cannot be accepted and are euthanized. Some organizations ask for a donation for the dog replacement. Bloodhound rescues may have a puppy, but most likely have adult dogs.
