This species is very vocal due to the fact that it lives mostly in the forest, it can produce about 100 different calls communicating with each other. Fearful cubs separated from the mother whine and squeal, the females grunt, talking to cubs.

During mating season, males cry out rather loudly attracting females and startling other males.
