The breed has a silky, semi-long coat that generally is not prone to matting. All Birmans have almost round, wide set blue eyes. Nowadays the cats may be of many different colors, thus they can be: seal, blue, chocolate, lilac and red factor points, and solid and tabby point patterns.

There is a legend about these cats but it still does not explain the actual scientific origins of the Birman cat and so there is some mystery, which surrounds its origin. Nevertheless the breed is very popular nowadays and it comes in the following colors: seal, blue, chocolate and lilac.
