The first appearance of this feline type was in France in 1919. It was a pregnant female imported from Burma. Sacre de Birmanie is the French name of the breed. There is a wide spread theory that this type was developed by French breeders.

It is a semi-longhaired feline, of any coat color, but with a necessary pointed pattern. It differs from other types because of its stocky body build, white paws and sapphire blue eyes.
