The dog classifieds will often provide photos of dogs for sale and have a picture of the kennel.
A century ago the breed was on the verge of extinction but thanks to Professor Albert Heim who started to breed these dogs it survived up to the present time. Though the breed still developed rather slowly. It was used as a farm dog, guarding the farms, driving the cows to and from their mountain pastures, and pulling carts loaded with milk cans to the dairy.

These dogs were first brought to America in 1926, and possibly even earlier. Though the breed was not recognized 1937 by the AKC. By the 1960s, a small group of the breed owners and breeders was developing in the United States. The dog classifieds will often provide photos of dogs for sale and have a picture of the kennel.
