These animals have a unique pattern of black stripes on an orange-brown coat and skin. White, red, albino, black and stripeless individuals are very rare. This species is the largest of the cat family; mature males reach up to 3 meters at length (with tail) and up to 230 kg at weight. They can mate year round, but mostly breed between November and April. Males are very territorial and maintain home ranges covering 20 to 200 square miles. Females also maintain home ranges, but they are much smaller than males’. Males do not participate in rearing the young, and females are extremely aggressive in defending their lairs.

Bengal Tiger Pictures -
rescue, photo
These animals are pure carnivores and adapted well to efficiently kill big game, such as pig, deer, buffalo, antelope and young elephant. If such food is scarce, they can eat domestic cattle; senior individuals may become man-eaters, but it happens very rarely. However, the number of attacks against humans has increased over the last several years. This is the result of deforestation that has forced many animals they prey on to leave, so they have no option but to feed on livestock and humans.
