White Bengal Tiger Information

Such animals are unique because of their unusual coat color. They have chocolate stripes on the creamy background or may be without stripes at all. Their eyes are usually blue, but may be yellow or green. There are about 500 such animals in captivity. These animals are revered by animal fanciers all over the world. In the wild, they occur only once per every 10,000 births. Their coat makes them conspicuous in their natural habitat, and thus reduces their chance of success during hunting.

White Bengal Tiger Information -
catteries, rescue
They originated from a sire that was caught in the 1950s in India. Animals with such coats were inbred to produce white offspring, but this practice has led to breeding depressions, such as shorter lifespan, crossed eyes, curved spine and others. The percentage of abortions, stillbirths and infant mortalities is very high in this species. They have a much shorter life span than their orange counterparts. They grow faster and heavier and hence are more likely to have orthopedic problems. Many white species have shortened tendons in the legs.
