This animal leads a solitary life. Males usually avoid contacts with other males and react properly to scent markings that indicate the presence of another male. Males maintain large ranges that may amount to 100 sq. miles and cover several female ranges. The dominant male mates with all females that come within his range. Males do not take part in rearing the young. These tigers are hunted by poachers though it is illegal in many Asian countries. The animal’s body parts are sought for use in traditional Chinese medicine and exotic recipes. As well as their body parts, their coats can be sold for a small fortune, so to many people this is the ideal animal to hunt if they want some fast money.
