White Bengal Tigers

Information on white bengal tigers is sometimes available from cat breeders. The last spotting of such an animal in the wild was in India in 1951. From this animal all captive population of such unique animals have descended. At the beginning of the 20th century, many of them were killed by the British hunters. The male cub spotted in 1951 was taken to a zoo, named Mohad and bred to orange females until one of the litters happened to contain cubs of this color. Then he was bred to one of his daughters. Actually, all these animals are descendants of Mohad. Information on white bengal tigers is sometimes available from cat breeders.

Today, there are only about 200 purebred animals with such a unique coat color. There are also about 300 hybridized animals that retain this color. They are produced because inbreeding has led to serious problems, such as a shorter lifespan, crossed eyes and spine curvatures. Many specialists express doubts about the expediency of breeding these animals, because they believe, we must first save the most endangered normal species rather than spend money and zoo space on the prettiest that may turn out to be a genetic dead-end. Information on white bengal tigers is sometimes available from cat breeders.
