Bengal Tiger Population
Information on the bengal tiger population and photos of this cat may be found on animal sites.
At the beginning of the 20th century, there were approximately 40,000 of these animals in the world. British royalty hunted them for sport, poachers killed them for the valuable pelts and other body parts, and their habitats were gradually destructed. That led to a decline in the wild population of these animals. Nowadays, they are concentrated in the reserves and sanctuaries of India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Burma, and live in mangrove swamps, dense forests and rocky areas. They feed on medium-sized and large game, and start hunting on their own at the age of around 1.5 years old.

Bengal Tiger Population -
photos, cat
The today’s number of these animals is estimated at about 3000. They are protected in most of their habitats, but the number continues to decrease because of lack of habitat and isolation from other populations. Mature animals cannot find mates and enough food. This has resulted in compelled inbreeding of wild animals and, consequently, in serious genetic disorders. Lack of common prey has forced many species to attack livestock and even humans. The number of reports about man-eating monsters perpetrating attacks on humans has increased dramatically over the last several years.
