These animals are very beautiful and powerful. The base coat color is orange or tawny with brown or black stripes. The stomach, mouth, eyebrows and cheeks should be white. The weight of these animals is up to 575 pounds, but they are not the biggest species of the felines. They live in mangrove swamps, dense woods and rocky areas of Southeast Asia, and are mostly concentrated in sanctuaries and reserves of India, Bangladesh, Burma and Nepal. They prey on medium-sized and large animals, such as deer, antelopes, buffalo, pigs and even small elephants.

It has been estimated, that one hundred years ago there were 40,000 species, while nowadays there are only about 3,000 of them left on the planet.
