This cat breed appeared as a cross of the American Shorthair and Asian Leopard. Asian leopards were endangered and such mixes helped save the species. The breed’s name comes from the Asian Leopard’s scientific name, Felis Bengalensis. These cats retain much of the instincts of their ancestors.
