The bearded collie dogs will usually start training while still a young puppy at the breeder kennel.
This breed originated in Scottish Highlands; its aim was to hunt out sheep and work independently. To perform such a difficult task these creatures have to be strong, agile, and very smart. The conformation of the breed is adapted to this function.

These creatures should be lean, but strong; their body should be long compared to height (at 5:4 ratio) that gives the animal flexibility and adds to the speed. The body length increases lung room without increasing bulk. The coat should be dense and double to protect the animal from harsh climate.
