Belonging to the group of hounds, these sturdy little dogs are considered one of the smallest hunting breeds. As the history goes, the Roman times are sometimes called the period when the breed was developed. The dogs were specially bred to kill the rabbit and hare. This breed is not yappy, but will bark and growl when strange people come in their territory. Their alertness makes these hounds good watch dogs, but they are not protective and will most likely play with an intruder. When catching a scent of something, these hounds make a noise called baying. Some hounds don’t understand the idea of keeping quiet, but those bought from reputable and ethical breeders are easy to train.
