This breed is one of the smallest of the hunting hounds. Compact and athletic, these dogs have short weather resistant coats. Everything in their look is designed for hunting small game. Their typical physical features are the long skull, low set, moderately long, droop ears, large eyes, a muscular body, and curved tail. Their short and coarse coat protects the body when the hound follows the prey in rough terrain. It’s very easy to groom and doesn’t shed much. It may come in red and white, orange and white, or lemon and white hues. The muzzle of the dog is straight and square. The nose is black. The pendant ears are long. The eyes are brown or hazel.
