The breed is a medium-sized dog that comes in two sizes. Breeders and owners distinguish dogs under 13 inches and over 13 inches. An adult dog weighs about 22-25 pounds, whereas a female is about 20-23 pounds. They are compact and sturdily built. Grooming requirements for these dogs are minimal. The breed is generally healthy and doesn’t need specific living conditions. These dogs do well in an apartment, if provided with enough exercise. Being bred to hunt in packs, these dogs don’t like being left alone. It’s recommended to keep a pair of these hounds, if you cannot spend much time with the dog.
