These wild cats have been considered extinct since the 1940s. Animals of this type were the smallest of all subspecies. They were similar in size to the leopard. Females of these animals weighed 64-79 kg, and males were usually 89-100 kg.

Fur of these cats was short and dense. It was usually deep orange and carried darker and fewer stripes than the other subspecies. There were small black spots between white stripes and unusual bars on the head. A balinese tiger breeder may have a picture of what one looks like.
