Axis Deer breed throughout the year when they reach the age of breeding that is 2 years and they breed till they are 15 years old. Usually there are two fawns though sometimes can be even twins. The animals usually mate in spring and the gestation period lasts about 8-8.5 months.

Females are naturally smaller and usually without antlers; the weight of males is about 30-75 kg and the females are 25-45 kg.
