The other name of the breed is Ostreichische Tan Hound. These dogs are native to Austria and they are very stocky; the body is long and strong, the neck is strong and the chest is broad. The dogs weigh approximately 20 kg that is 44 pounds and are about 50-56 cm high (that is 20-22 inches).

The breed belongs to the group of Scendthounds and related breeds. They are smooth coated; their coat is very close lying and dense, tight and about 2 cm long.
