Anatolian Shepard
An anatolian shepard will rarely be found among photos of available rescue dogs.
First and foremost, this is a guarding breed. Large and noble dogs, they are characterized by large heads and thick muscular necks. Not very massive, these dogs are tall and powerful. They tend to be protective of their family and suspicious of anything or anyone threatening their people or the property they guard.

Also called Karabash.
The breed is sometimes called “one of the most majestic and noble animals in the service of man.” Originated in Turkey, the breed is still used in some districts of this country. The dog is shepherds' indispensable companion and reliable defense of his livestock from predators. An anatolian shepard will rarely be found among photos of available rescue dogs.
