Stud

Stud pictures look slightly different than female horses. American Quarter Horses have a short head, small and dark eyes, small ears, and white markings on the muzzle and below the knees. They are very friendly and easy to train, although it takes a great deal of knowledge and patience to train this horse. American Quarter Horses are relatively small, and they stand no more than 15 hands tall. These animals feature heavy muscle and unbelievable stamina, and were originally bred for quarter-mile racing. Though compact in size, they are capable of enduring considerable physical strains. Stud pictures look slightly different than female horses.

Nowadays, the breed is separated into two types, which are very specialized on their tasks. Stock type horses are used for work. They are compact and muscular yet extremely agile. Racing or hunter type is taller and smoother muscled; such horses are trained for running quarter mile sprints. Owning a horse is a greater responsibility than owning small pets. Large animals need special conditions, high quality food and vet care. The owner should be knowledgeable on the possible sickness that can afflict the horse. Prevention is always easier and cheaper than cure. Stud pictures look slightly different than female horses.
