The official registry was started only in the 1940’s. Nowadays, there are two main types within the breed: stock and racing types. They perform specialized tasks and differ slightly in body build and size. Both types are characterized by intelligence and friendly disposition and are popular as family pets.

They have a limited amount of white on the muzzle and below the knees, and if you see a species with white elsewhere, this is not a purebred animal.
