The Caspian horse is extremely rare. The breed originated in northern Iran, and is well accustomed to montane conditions. Until recently, the breed was on the brink of disappearance, but Louise Firouz, and American living in Iran, exerted efforts to revive the breed.

An image of a Caspian horse without a person beside creates an illusion of a standard-sized Arabian or Thoroughbred. In fact, Caspian horses stand only 10-12 hh on the average. However, they are miniature horses, not ponies, because they have well proportioned bodies. It is rather difficult to buy foals or baby horses that will suit you.
