Alsatian dogs may be obtained at rescues.
The other name of this breed is German Shepherd dog; it is classified as herding group. It first appeared in the end of the 19th century, when both long-haired and wire-haired varieties were exhibited. Today, only the short-coated variety is recognized.

These dogs grow to be 24-26 inches at the shoulders and weigh from 77 to 85 pounds. They are good watchdogs and personal guards; they are able to sniff out drugs, underground mines and gas leaks. These dogs also make good family companions. Alsatian dogs may be obtained at rescues.
