These are intelligent and easy to train dogs that were used mainly as working dogs. It is unfair, however, to say that every dog of this breed may be taught all the things these dogs had to do. There is a narrow specialization and they are good at some particular work.

Some dogs make good hunters; others are best at police work and drug detection. There are still some species that can be taught different tasks as well.
