These birds live in the tropical forests of central Africa. The nearer to the Equator, the smaller and darker in color are the Grays. There exist two recognizable variations: the timneh (smaller and darker) and the red-tailed. There exist also Ghana, Togo, Cameroon, Congo and Angola Gray variations.
